You could say that Pinterest is the hottest social network at the moment. How can you ensure that your posts can be pinned on Pinterest?
It’s quite simple really. Use an image. If you don’t use an image in your posts, anyone who tries to submit your posts to Pinterest will see one of the following things.
1. Pinterest will display a list of images from your blog, none of which are really relevant to the post. These images can include image ads, avatars, and social icons. This won’t help your post to stand out if it’s submitted.
2. An error will occur, saying that no image could be found. This means the post cannot be pinned.
Even if you don’t use Pinterest yourself, why run the risk of readers not being able to submit your posts?
Plus, it’s a good idea to add an image anyway. It helps your post to stand out. If every post is a “wall of text”, it can be quite off-putting to the casual reader.

Do you use Pinterest? Have you ever tried to pin a great article, only to find that it was blocked due to a lack of images?

I had a quick look at Pinterest, but it’s not really my thing. I prefer to create, not collect
I also discovered ~50 of my photos have been pinned, sending me 7 visitors over the last 3 months!
Hi John – thanks for commenting.
I find Pinterest good for bookmarking – my bookmarks have always been in a huge mess. Now I can share a few of them on Pinterest and hopefully find them again!
I am not active on Pinterest, but I love images. I have an account and I keep testing a few things. I agree that we should add images to posts in order to both grab attention and in order to make the posts more alive. We should probably also add the pinterest button in order to get people to pin our images.. I haven’t done that myself, but there are several plugins for wordpress that we can use.
Hi Jens – thanks for commenting.
I’m not too worried about adding the “pin it” button – I think it’s possible to overload on social buttons. I have three on all of my posts – G+, Facebook, Twitter – I’ve never been keen on seeing 6 share buttons on every post. It seems a bit much.
Hi Ben, I found your post through Pinterest, lol. I agree, I’m a big Pinterest fan, both for promoting a blog and for seeing visually pleasing images. Thanks for sharing these tips with us!
Hi Carolyn – thanks for commenting.
Welcome to Quick Blog Tips. Using great images in your posts is a good idea anyway, but as I’ve found, it’s essential if you want to benefit from Pinterest. Glad I’ve been using images for all my posts for quite some time – a few in my archives need updating with images, but all the recent ones are fine. Nice to meet you and hope to see you again
Hi Ben
Found you via Pinterest, via Sonia, etc. I am pretty new at this, but I find that Posting a good picture gets so much attention. It may sound silly, but I received more friends from just pics I put of of my favorite shoes.
How about that? I see that it is very visual and by a shared interest on anything, people take an interest in YOU. Then start coming into your fold to see what you are about.
It happened to me, now I’m here because our Picture caught my eye!
Thank you and I enjoyed your article.

Hi Donna – welcome to Quick Blog Tips.
Thanks for your comment. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A picture is also much more immediate and attention grabbing than a blog post. That’s exactly why I aim to include eye-catching, colourful, imaginative or just plain excellent images with my posts. You’ve proved that it is a strategy worth continuing, so I thank you for that
